What Is the Raindrop Technique?

The Raindrop Technique was developed in the 1980s by Gary Young, inspired by his work with Lakota medicine man Wallace Black Elk. This unique method blends the use of therapeutic-grade essential oils with light massage techniques to bring the body back into balance—structurally, emotionally, and energetically.

What makes it so special is the way it combines three modalities:
  • Aromatherapy – using a carefully chosen sequence of essential oils.
  • Vita Flex Technique – gentle reflexology-style movements that stimulate the body’s energy pathways.
  • Feather Stroking – light, relaxing strokes that encourage alignment and deep relaxation.
Together, these techniques create a restorative experience that supports the whole body.



What to Expect in a Session

When you come for a Raindrop session, we’ll start with a quick chat about how you’re feeling and what you’d like support with. Then you’ll simply relax on a massage table while therapeutic-grade oils are gently applied to your feet and along your spine using light strokes.

The oils are layered in a specific sequence—each one chosen for its unique benefits like immune support, stress relief, or muscle relaxation. Some sessions may also include a warm towel or additional gentle techniques to help the oils absorb and encourage deeper relaxation.

Each session lasts about an hour and many people say they feel calmer, more balanced and even notice better sleep and posture afterward. The benefits often continue for several days.
